2017 – 2018
PCA Girls Basketball Season
We are excited about our upcoming basketball season! Our tentative plan is to practice at Northshore Sportsplex this season, which is a more central location for most people (only 2.6 miles north of I-12, off of Highway 59).
Our Varsity girls had a great season last year …
- Finished the season as the #1 seed in ACEL (Association of Christian Educators of Louisiana league)
- Placed 2nd at the ACEL state tournament
- Placed 3rd in the 18U Division 1 Silver at National Christian HomeSchool Championships Big South Regionals in Dallas, TX
- Placed 4th in the 18U Division 1 Bronze at National Christian HomeSchool Championships in Springfield, MO
Even though all of our girls participated in the varsity games, we had the opportunity to play in some JV games, as well. We were undefeated in JV games in the ACEL league. We took a 14U girls team to the National Christian HomeSchool Championships Big South Regionals in Dallas, TX and won the championship game in the silver bracket.
Several of our girls were named to all-regional teams (voted on by all coaches in the Big South Region) and had the opportunity to play in an all-region game at nationals.
We recently held a basketball camp for boys and girls, ages 8-14. Alicia Stickles did a wonderful job running the camp. The boys outnumbered the girls, but those girls did awesome!
Please email me at amboggs3@yahoo to let me know if you have a daughter interested in playing basketball this year. Don’t worry – just because you email me doesn’t mean you’re committing! We would just like to get an idea of the number of girls interested in playing this year, regardless of age. We will then have a better idea about what teams we can form for the upcoming season. If we have enough interest, we can form teams from elementary-aged girls all the way through high school-aged girls.
Parents of girls, ages 13-18, we are having a Varsity/JV basketball informational meeting on Monday, August 14th, at 7:00 PM. The location of the meeting is at ATMOS Energy in Mandeville. The address is 68388 Compass Way East. Sometimes the routing software doesn’t give good directions, so here are our directions:
Take exit 65 off of I-12 (LA-59, Abita Springs/Mandeville exit) and go north.
Approximately 1 mile north of the interstate, take a left on Marion Lane. It is the entrance to the Alamosa Business Park. Stay on Marion until it tees into Compass Way. Take a right and we’re on the right.
We look forward to hearing from you!
